Smart home ideas

As design technology progresses to the point of enabling inanimate objects with Wi-Fi, we’re bound to see some highly intelligent houses popping up.

Washington State University’s professor Diane Cook foresees smart houses going a step beyond energy control and monitoring resident’s well being as well.

Depending on your preferences, you can have a chef’s kitchen — with an over sized island, plenty of counter top space and a good set of knives — or your own host’s kitchen — stocked with a bar, counter stools and of course, plenty of cake stands. Luckily, with a little bit of organization and some quality purchases, any space can become the perfect compromise, with room to spare for both cooking and entertaining. Here are some helpful ways to get the most out of your space

Properly organize your cookware and bake ware.

If your cabinets and drawers don’t include handy built-ins, all is not lost. For baking sheets, use rods or handy dividers to keep them upright and separated. For measuring cups and smaller items, purchase cabinet dividers or plastic storage containers, and use pullout cabinet organizers or hanging pot racks for pots and pans. When organizers aren’t an option, make things easier to find by grouping like items together, such as cups, dishes, bowls and food storage containers.

Don’t take the cheap route for large kitchen appliances.

Although it feels great to find a deal, there are some items that are worth the splurge. Because of their frequent use and already expensive price tag, large kitchen appliances are definitely about quality. Especially the Kitchen Sinks and Faucets which is mostly wet for most of the time. They may get tone or rusting after some time of using it. They don’t need to be top of the line, but a good quality Kitchen Sinks and Faucets accessories, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and cook top range will last you for years to come, so you won’t have to worry about constantly replacing them. Smaller things, such as microwaves and coffeemakers, don’t have such big price tags, so they can be swapped with very few headaches.
